In The Gray Studios

Artist-led storytelling across film, sound, animation, and books.

Original worlds, artist-led. No shortcuts, no easy answers — creative ownership stays with the people who built it.

The Studio

We build worlds that stay complex.

In The Gray Studios is a creative production company working across film and television, animation, books and publishing, and sound. We develop original story worlds that resist easy answers and sit comfortably in contradiction.

The Gray is not ambiguity for its own sake. It is the honest space where tension, intimacy, survival, and transformation can all exist at once, and where stories become real.

We are artist-led, meaning every project begins with a creator's vision and is protected throughout production. We build toward complexity.

What We Make

Film & TV

Original series and feature work rooted in lived experience, including our flagship project, dis/ordered.

Animation

Animation that blends emotional storytelling and visual design, from Death's Jilted Lovers to The Quads.

Books & Comics

Publishing projects that give our worlds new life on the page through voices like The Diyar Series and These Hands.

Sound & Music

Original score, sound design, and audio work running through all studio projects.

Our Ethos

Artist-led from the ground up.

We build on creators' visions and protect their work through production. Our development process is designed to keep agency with the people closest to the stories.

Chicago-rooted.

Chicago informs our perspective, our community, and the way we embrace complexity in story and craft.

Community is built into the work.

Through Lisa's Corner, our newsletter, and every project we share, the work extends beyond screens and pages into the people who need it.

International collaboration, when possible.

While rooted in Chicago, ITGS is open to working with international artists and collaborators when the right project fit and logistics are in place.
